JongKeun Han
Before Dr. Han was called to ministry, his dream was to become a patent attorney. This led him to Seoul National University of Science and Technology where he studied Electronics Engineering. He graduated with B.S in Electronics Engineering. Once he accepted the call to ministry, however, he attended Sahmyook University in Seoul, South Korea where he graduated with a B.A. degree in Theology. He then continued his theological pursuits at Andrews University, Michigan where he attained both a Master’s in Divinity as well as a Doctorate of Ministry. While serving churches across the nation, he recognized the need for more emotional and mental health support ministries in churches and communities, leading him to study and earn a M.A. in Counseling Psychology at North Park University in Chicago, Illinois.
As a nationally certified and licensed counselor and pastor, he has provided years of counseling in family relationships, couple relationships, and senior grief. He has a passion of spreading “Holistically Healthy Lives” to the world.
Dr. Han has been happily married to the love of his life for 30 years. They have been blessed with a son and a daughter. In his free time, Dr. Han enjoys going on long walks with their dog, surfing, and traveling. Currently, he is serving as a pastor and the president of the Center for International Mental Health Evangelism where he leads ‘Emotionally Comforting Ministries’ in Santa Maria, CA.
Ruth H. Chung

Professor Ruth Chung is a Counseling Psychologist who has taught at the University of Southern California for over 25 years in the Marriage and Family Therapy master’s program and doctoral program in Educational Leadership. Her expertise is in multicultural counseling with particular focus on Asian American families, intergenerational conflict in immigrant families, and cultural identity development of multicultural youth and is recognized for her research in developing psychological instruments to assess acculturation level and family conflict in Asian American families. Dr. Chung is a recipient of the Fulbright Scholar award to South Korea and also has taught in Hong Kong, Singapore, Finland, and Qatar, as well as regularly conducting family seminars throughout the U.S. and diversity training workshops for Los Angeles Police Department.
VicLouis Arreola III
PhD, DTheol Vice President,
Pacific Union Conference Asian-Pacific Ministries
Pastor Arreola has been the coordinator of Asian-Pacific Ministries for the Pacific Union Conference since 2011, he now serves as the vice president for Asian-Pacific Ministries.
Arreola is president of the Pacific Institute of Christian Ministry, an equipping school for lay pastors and church leaders. Arreola has a rich background as a church planter, international evangelist, senior pastor, departmental director, radio and television speaker, pastoral counselor, and adjunct professor.
He has a bachelor’s degree in theology from Mountain View College in the Philippines, a master’s degree in religion and health from the Adventist University of the Philippines, a master’s degree in theology from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, and doctoral degrees from La Salle University and the Evangelical Seminary. He was recently conferred with an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Dallas Theological Seminary for notable empowering leadership in the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Arreola is passionate about empowering local communities and congregations to expand, spreading the love of Jesus in ways that are culturally relevant.
He is married to Dr. Imelda Arreola, a preventive health specialist, and they have one son, VicLouis Arreola V, a pastor who is a resident physician in Loma Linda Hospital. All three members of the family speak for and operate Our Great Hope Today Ministries, heard in 65 countries.
Michael DeVries
Ph.D, LCPC
Michael DeVries is a Professor of Psychology and Director of the graduate program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at North Park University in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. DeVries is a licensed clinical psychologist in IL, In 1996 Dr. DeVries and his wife, Louella DeVries, a marriage and family therapist, founded Oliver Branch Counseling Associates in Tinley Park,
Dr. DeVries has been in clinical practice for over forty years. He has taught courses in Counseling Theory, Abnormal Psychology and Bereavement Counseling. In his teaching and clinical practice Dr. DeVries seeks to integrate Christian spirituality with professional counseling . Currently his clinical practice focuses on work with seniors who struggle with a variety of emotional and interpersonal issues.
Pierre Steenberg
Ph.D, D.Min, BCCC. Professor of Union Adventist College
Dr. Pierre F. Steeberg attained a B.A. Theology degree from Andrews University, Michigan. He also earned a B.A. Honors in Biblical Studies, an M.A. in Biblical Studies, and a Ph.D. in New Testament Studies from the University of Pretoria in South African.
Both the M.A. and the Ph.D. were attained with distinction – the highest possible grade presented at a South African University. He Graduated more recently Magna Cum Laude with a D.Min. in Pastoral Psychology and Family Therapy from the Pacific School of Religion, Berkeley, CA. He is a member of numerous academic societies in both theology and counseling, including the Society of Biblical Literature and the American Association of Christian Counseling. He is the author of several articles and books and regularly presents seminars both in the U.S.A and internationally.
Pierre has been a pastor and a counselor for many years, enjoying the credential of BCCC (Board Certified Christian Counselor) from the international Board of Christian Counselors. He received additional training in the following areas: Crisis Counseling, Critical Incident Stress Management (Individual & Group, both at basic and advanced levels), Crisis and Disaster Response, Grief After Trauma, Basic Emergency Management, Clinical Christian Education. Numerous Courses on Neuropsychology, Psychological Disorders, and Neuropharmacology, to mention a few.
Pierre is married to Karlien and they have two sons. The Steenberg Family lives in NV. Pierre enjoys photography, research, and travel.
